About This Tour

A private, fully customizable half-day tour taking in Trinity College and Kilmainham Gaol. This 100% personalized private tour visits Trinity College and Kilmainham Gaol, with the rest of the itinerary shaped around your own interests.

Kilmainham Gaol opened in 1796 under the name 'New Gaol,' built to replace an older prison nearby, and went on to hold the leaders of nearly every major Irish rebellion for over a century - 1798, 1803, 1848, 1867, and finally 1916. Between 3 and 12 May 1916, fourteen leaders of the Easter Rising were executed by firing squad in the prison's Stonebreakers' Yard, including James Connolly, who had been so badly wounded he had to be carried out in a chair to face the squad.

That significant stop is paired here with Trinity College, founded in 1592 under a royal charter from Elizabeth I, on this fully personalized private half-day - with the rest of the itinerary genuinely shaped around whatever else your group is interested in seeing.
