About This Tour

A private walking tour mixing top attractions with off-the-beaten-path sights, including insider stories. Explore a mix of top attractions and off-the-beaten-path sights on this private walking tour, taking in Trinity College, Temple Bar, the Garden of Remembrance, and finishing at Dublin Castle.

The Garden of Remembrance on Parnell Square opened in 1966, during the 50th anniversary of the Easter Rising, on ground chosen for real historical weight: it's where the Irish Volunteers were founded in 1913, and where several leaders of the 1916 Rising were held overnight before being moved to Kilmainham Gaol. Designed by Dáithí Hanly as a sunken, cross-shaped water feature, its focal point - a bronze sculpture of the Children of Lir by Oisín Kelly, symbolising rebirth - wasn't actually added until 1971, five years after the garden itself opened.

This private walk, capped at a genuinely small group of up to 6 people, weaves that lesser-visited memorial in alongside Dublin's headline stops - Trinity College and Temple Bar - before finishing at Dublin Castle, giving a mix of the sights every visitor expects and the ones most don't find on their own.
