The Paravachasca valley lies between the Sierras Grandes and the Sierras Chicas, and the Comechingón people who lived here are credited with the name, usually glossed as a place of tangled vegetation. That tangle of hills is what you ride into on this tour, so it is worth knowing the horseback section is the point of the day, not a short photo opportunity.
The valley is also home to Alta Gracia, where a Jesuit estancia began when Alonso Nieto de Herrera donated his own property to the Society of Jesus on entering it in 1643. That estancia is part of Córdoba's UNESCO listing. It is not a stop on this itinerary, but it explains why the surrounding landscape reads as farmland shaped by long use.
Finca La Granja, the boutique vineyard at the far end of the ride, is where the tasting happens, before you return to the ranch for an asado serrano with premium local wines.
