About This Tour
A private sightseeing tour to the Cliffs of Moher, stopping at Bunratty Castle and the historic Sean's Bar along the way. Get picked up by a private driver in a luxury vehicle and set out on a full-day tour to the Cliffs of Moher, including stops at Bunratty Castle and the historic Sean's Bar, before exploring the Cliffs at your own pace.
Bunratty Castle, one of the real stops on this route, was completed by the MacNamara family around 1425 - the fourth castle built on that site after earlier Norman and medieval structures were destroyed or fell into ruin. Within about fifty years it had passed to the O'Briens, the most powerful clan in Munster and later Earls of Thomond, who held it for generations.
Sean's Bar, the other historic stop built into the day, is widely recognized - including by Guinness World Records - as the oldest pub in Ireland, and quite possibly the oldest in the world. Renovation work in the 1970s uncovered wattle-and-wicker wall materials later carbon-dated to around the 9th century, tying the building to a riverside inn first recorded near the River Shannon around 900 AD.
Paired with unhurried time at the Cliffs of Moher themselves, this private tour turns the usual Dublin-to-Clare drive into a genuine layered history lesson rather than just a long transit day.
