An open-air golf cart tour through Charlotte's historic Black neighborhoods and West Corridor.
A private open-air golf cart tour covering Charlotte's oldest surviving Black neighborhoods — Biddleville and McCrorey Heights — plus Camp North End and real Uptown landmarks along the way.
This private open-air golf cart tour goes beyond the usual Uptown loop, riding into Charlotte's West Corridor to cover real ground most city tours skip. You'll start at Camp North End — a former manufacturing plant and military depot now a popular shopping and food complex — before heading into McCrorey Heights and Biddleville, Charlotte's oldest surviving historic Black neighborhood, to hear their real ties to the city's civil rights history. The route also passes the Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts + Culture, the Bank of America Corporate Center, Historic Grace AME Zion Church, Bank of America Stadium, and Romare Bearden Park, with real stories about Charlotte's Black-owned businesses and entrepreneurs along the way.

Biddleville grew up around the school that became Johnson C. Smith University, founded in 1867 as the Biddle Institute to train Black teachers and preachers, and the neighborhood is widely described as Charlotte's oldest surviving Black neighborhood. McCrorey Heights, just to the north, was started in 1912 by university president H.L. McCrorey and grew mainly after World War II as a ranch-house suburb for the city's Black professional class.
Camp North End tells a different layer of the story. Ford opened a Model T and Model A assembly plant there in 1924, designed by Albert Kahn; Ford closed it by about 1932, and the U.S. Army later turned the site into a quartermaster depot supplying troops across the Southeast during World War II. On a golf cart you cover all of this in about ninety minutes, with each stop only a short ride from the last.
