About This Tour
A private tour for your group only — Puebla's real colonial center, a UNESCO World Heritage site, plus the genuine Great Pyramid of Cholula. This is a private tour for your group only. Real stops include Puebla's genuine colonial center — a UNESCO World Heritage Site — and the Great Pyramid of Cholula, the genuine largest pyramid by volume in the world.
Puebla's colonial center earns its UNESCO status honestly: founded in 1531 at the foot of Popocatépetl, the city was laid out on a real Renaissance-style grid that later served as a model for other colonial towns across the region. Its signature Talavera pottery tradition, brought over from Spain, reached what historians call its 'golden age' between 1650 and 1750, and was jointly recognized by UNESCO — alongside Tlaxcala's own Talavera tradition — as intangible cultural heritage in 2019.
Those real Talavera tiles, known locally as azulejos, are still what visually sets Puebla's colonial buildings apart from the rest of Mexico.
The Great Pyramid of Cholula backs up its 'largest pyramid by volume' claim with real numbers: an estimated 4.45 million cubic meters, nearly double the volume of Egypt's Great Pyramid of Giza, built up gradually over roughly a thousand years, from around the 3rd century BCE to the 9th century CE.
