About This Tour
Sail Cartagena Bay on an exclusive private boat as the sun sets, taking in views of the old city walls, colonial architecture, and the harbor bathed in evening light. This is a genuinely private boat charter, not a shared sunset cruise, sailing Cartagena Bay as the city transitions from day to night. Real views along the route include the old city walls, colonial architecture along the waterfront, and the harbor as the lights come on.
Cartagena Bay is the reason the city exists. Its sheltered waters made it a key Spanish port, and the walls and forts you see from the water, parts of what UNESCO listed in 1984, were built to protect it. In 1741 the harbour was the stage of the siege in which Blas de Lezo's defenders sank their own ships to block the entrance.
From the boat, the old city walls and the colonial skyline look as sailors saw them for centuries, with the modern towers of Bocagrande on the other side as a contrast.
Sunset timing shifts through the year, so your captain plans departure to catch the best light.
