About This Tour

A private, professionally guided summit hike up Lady Macdonald via the Goat Creek Trail — a genuinely challenging climb rewarded with real bird's-eye views over Canmore and the surrounding Rockies, no ropes or technical gear required. This is a private tour — only your group will participate, up to 6 guests. Your professional mountain guide leads a real summit push up Lady Macdonald via the Goat Creek Trail, a genuinely challenging half-day-plus hike that doesn't require ropes or technical climbing gear. This is a specific named-peak summit climb, distinct from Voyzo's existing Kananaskis hiking tours out of Banff, which cover a choice of easier trails rather than one demanding summit.

Mount Lady Macdonald rises directly above the town of Canmore, with a high point of about 2,600 metres and an elevation gain of roughly 1,180 metres from the valley floor. Sources describe the established trail as climbing to a ridge where a former tea house and helipad once stood, now marked by a bench and some of the best panoramic views over the Bow Valley.

From the upper ridge you look across to Mount Rundle's many peaks, Ha Ling Peak, Miner's Peak and the Three Sisters. The Three Sisters were first called the Three Nuns in 1883 because snow made them resemble white headdresses, and were renamed by geologist George Mercer Dawson on his 1886 map. Big Sister, at about 2,936 metres, is the tallest of the three.

Hikers should know that, according to hiking sources, the maintained trail ends at the tea house site and the route beyond to the true summit is unmaintained and exposed, suited to experienced scramblers. Your guide will explain how far to go on the day and what conditions allow.
