Chichén Itzá has run an official nighttime show called Noches de Kukulkán since 2016, and it's a different kind of visit from the daytime walk-through most tourists do. After a roughly 45-minute guided walk around the main structures in the dark, light and video projections play across El Castillo for about 25 minutes, tracing Maya cosmology from a cosmic origin story through to the descent of the feathered serpent deity — the same figure behind the pyramid's famous equinox shadow effect, told here through modern projection instead of sunlight.
The cave cenote on this itinerary is a genuinely different kind of swim stop from the open, sky-lit cenotes most day trips visit. Cenotes here come in two basic forms — wide-open sinkholes where the cave roof collapsed entirely, and enclosed, cavern-style ones where it didn't, leaving stalactites, deeper shade, and a much quieter, almost subterranean atmosphere for a swim.
