Campbell River calls itself the 'Salmon Capital of the World', and the title comes from the runs through its rivers and channels. Five species, pink, coho, chinook, chum and sockeye, frequent the local waters.
Discovery Passage, where the charter fishes, is a narrow, current-swept channel that concentrates bait and the salmon that feed on it. This is part of why the area has drawn anglers for generations.
Fishing rules, limits, and closures for particular species change from season to season, so your guide will explain what can legally be kept on the day. Safety gear is provided, and a guide who teaches from scratch makes this a good first fishing trip.
