Campbell River sits on Discovery Passage on the east side of Vancouver Island and is the gateway to Quadra Island, the Discovery Islands, and Desolation Sound. Strong tidal currents funnel through these narrow channels, and wildlife follows the food.
Humpback whales are reported to migrate through the area between May and October, and orcas, both resident and transient pods, are often seen hunting off Quadra Island. Seals and bald eagles are regular companions along the shoreline.
A boat limited to six guests can move quietly through the channels and spend time with an animal without crowding it.
