About This Tour

A private tour for your group only, in a real car, with a genuine included lunch. This is a private tour for your group only, in a genuine private car, with a real included lunch, covering Budapest's greatest real sights.

Buda Castle is the real anchor of a greatest-hits day: founded by King Béla IV in the 13th century after the Mongol invasion of 1241–42, rebuilt into a grand, symmetrical Baroque palace under the Habsburgs across the 18th century, and then reduced to rubble as the last German and Hungarian stronghold in the 1944–45 Siege of Budapest. Today's postwar reconstruction houses the Hungarian National Gallery, the Budapest History Museum, and the National Széchényi Library — a genuinely different building, in many ways, from the one the Habsburgs knew.

Covering the city's greatest hits in one day only makes sense once you know Budapest itself is a relatively young creation: Buda, Pest, and Óbuda were three entirely separate towns until a law passed in late 1872 formally merged them into a single city in 1873. By 1890 the newly unified Budapest had grown to roughly 492,000 people, making it the Austro-Hungarian Empire's second city after Vienna — which is exactly why a full day in a private car, rather than a half-day on foot, is genuinely needed to connect both halves of a city that only became one 150-odd years ago.

A real included lunch midway through the day is the practical difference between an unhurried, comprehensive tour and a rushed checklist — time to actually sit down rather than grab something standing up between stops.
