Bryce was certified an International Dark Sky Park on August 13, 2019, as the park marked 50 years of astronomy programming, and few national parks have a longer tradition of teaching the night sky. A full moon changes the mood: shadows are crisp and many hikers need no headlamp at all on the rim.
The Navajo Loop Trail starts near Sunset Point at about 8,000 feet and drops roughly 520 feet to the canyon floor, so even a night walk includes a climb back up. The existing itinerary describes about three miles, which presumably links more than the loop alone, so ask your guide about the exact route. Layers matter, since temperatures drop quickly at this altitude after dark.
