The classic five-day Druk Path trek between Paro and Thimphu — alpine lakes, yak pastures, and mountain viewpoints — bookended by dzong and monastery touring in both cities. This tour is entirely within Bhutan. Days 3-7 are a genuine camping trek — five nights under canvas along the Druk Path between Paro and Thimphu — while the remaining seven nights (Days 1-2 and 8-12) are standard hotel stays in Paro, Thimphu, Punakha, and Wangdue Phodrang. Expect real trail conditions (10-11km days, up to around 4,110m) rather than a lodge-to-lodge walk.
A private guide, driver, and vehicle for the entire trip, with hotels pre-arranged at every overnight stop — the pace and any optional stops can still be shaped around your group.
Arrival pickup at Paro International Airport.
Arrive at Paro airport, transfer to hotel, and visit Rinpung Dzong and the National Museum.
Hike to Tiger's Nest Temple and visit Drukgyel Dzong and Kyichu Lhakhang before the trek begins.
Trek uphill through orchards and pine forest to Jili Dzong (3,490m), 10km over 4-5 hours. Camping.
Alpine forest and rhododendron trails to a yak herders' pasture at Jangchulakha (3,780m). Camping.
Ridge trails through juniper and dwarf rhododendron to Jimilangtsho Lake (3,880m), known for giant trout. Camping.
Trek past Janetsho and Simkotatsho lakes (4,110m) to a yak pasture campsite. Camping.
Descend into the Thimphu valley and visit Tashichho Dzong. Overnight in a Thimphu hotel.
Visit the Memorial Chorten, Buddha Dordenma viewpoint, Changangkha Lhakhang, and the weekend market.
Drive via Dochula Pass, with an optional hike to Chimi Lhakhang.
Drive through Wangdue and Lawala Pass, visiting Gangtey Goemba monastery.
Return drive via Dochula and Thimphu, with cultural activities like archery and traditional costume photos.
Checkout and transfer to Paro International Airport.
The trip ends in Paro with a checkout and transfer to Paro International Airport (PBH) for your departure flight.
