About This Tour

Explore Berlin without the stress of planning your own route, passing locations including the Brandenburg Gate, the site of Hitler's Bunker (Führerbunker), and a section of the Berlin Wall. Your guide leads the way, sharing stories about Berlin's complex history at the Brandenburg Gate, the site of Hitler's former bunker, and a remaining section of the Berlin Wall.

The site of Hitler's Führerbunker, where he died in April 1945, is deliberately unremarkable today — a residential parking lot near Gertrud-Kolmar-Strasse, marked only by a small information plaque. Postwar authorities on both sides of the city chose not to build any monument there, reasoning that leaving the spot ordinary and unmarked was the best way to keep it from becoming a pilgrimage site; the bunker itself was mostly destroyed and backfilled during later construction.

From there, the walk moves to the Brandenburg Gate, completed in 1791, which spent nearly three decades standing just inside the Berlin Wall's no-man's-land after the city was divided in 1961.

Your guide also takes you to a surviving stretch of that Wall, built virtually overnight on 13 August 1961 and brought down on 9 November 1989, explaining plainly what each site represents rather than rushing past the harder parts of the story.
