About This Tour

Travel in a luxury private vehicle to the Brandenburg Gate and the Reichstag, then adapt your itinerary to visit the East Side Gallery or the Holocaust Memorial. A fully customizable private tour spanning former East and West Berlin, with your expert guide adapting the route to your interests along the way.

For 28 years, a single wall decided which half of this itinerary you'd legally be allowed to drive through. Built virtually overnight on 13 August 1961 and eventually stretching some 155 kilometers around West Berlin, the Wall fell on 9 November 1989 — and this private route is built around tracing what used to be either side of it.

The Brandenburg Gate anchors the western end of that story: completed in 1791 by architect Carl Gotthard Langhans, its bronze Quadriga was briefly stolen by Napoleon in 1806 and only returned to Berlin years later.

On the eastern side, the Reichstag carries its own weight of history — completed in 1894, nearly destroyed by fire in 1933 in an event the Nazi regime used to justify sweeping emergency powers, and rebuilt with Norman Foster's glass dome between 1995 and 1999. Depending on your interests, your guide can extend the loop to the East Side Gallery's mural-covered Wall remnant or the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe.
