About This Tour

A private guide organizes the itinerary for you, ticking off Alexanderplatz, the Gendarmenmarkt, Brandenburg Gate, and plenty of unexpected photo opportunities. Explore Berlin lit up at night with a private guide who plans the route for you, from Alexanderplatz to the Gendarmenmarkt and the Brandenburg Gate.

Alexanderplatz after dark is dominated by the Fernsehturm, East Germany's 368-meter television tower, built between 1965 and 1969 as a deliberate showcase of socialist modernity — visible from nearly anywhere in the city and lit up nightly, it's still one of Berlin's tallest, most recognizable silhouettes. It makes a striking first stop on a route built specifically around how differently Berlin looks once the sun goes down.

From there the tour moves to Gendarmenmarkt, a square named for the Gens d'armes cavalry regiment once garrisoned here, framed by twin 18th-century cathedrals built for Berlin's French Huguenot refugee community — a square that looks almost theatrical once its facades are floodlit at night. The Brandenburg Gate closes out the must-see list, with your private guide planning the whole route so you don't have to.

Expect plenty of photo opportunities you wouldn't necessarily plan for yourself — illuminated Berlin has a different rhythm, and a guide who knows exactly where the light hits best makes a real difference.
