Trout are not native to Patagonia. They were introduced from Europe and North America starting in 1904, when eggs reached Lake Nahuel Huapi after a long journey by train and horseback; shipments between 1904 and 1910 populated lakes and rivers across the region. Rainbow trout, first brought from the United States in 1904, is now the most conspicuous freshwater fish here.
Fly fishing grew from that. Anglers began working rod and reel in the rivers as the fish spread, and Bariloche became part of the circuit that drew visitors from abroad.
A half-day keeps things relaxed: time for casting instruction if you are new, or refinement if you are experienced, in water the guide knows well.
