Sagrada Família is lit every single evening by a dedicated permanent architectural lighting system, designed to bring out its facades, towers, and sculptural detail against the night sky — no ticket is required to see it illuminated, since the lighting is visible from the public street at any hour. The Endesa Foundation has added further lighting features to specific elements over the past two decades, including the Passion Façade in 2007 and the star crowning the Virgin Mary Tower in 2021.
Casa Batlló gets its own, separate nighttime illumination treatment, with its undulating, bone-like facade and mosaic "dragon's back" roofline picking up a very different character under artificial light than it has in daytime photos — one more reason an evening route through Barcelona's Modernist landmarks isn't simply a daytime tour run later.
Riding in an open sidecar rather than a closed vehicle means experiencing that lighting more directly, with real wireless-helmet commentary from the guide filling in context as the route moves between stops, rather than narration through a vehicle's own speakers. It's a genuinely different, more exposed way to see landmarks that most visitors only ever encounter in daylight or through a bus window.
