About This Tour
A private tour for your group only, with a genuine in-depth guided exploration of the Sagrada Família. This is a private tour for your group only, with real, genuine in-depth guided commentary throughout the Sagrada Família.
Unlike almost every other monument of this scale, the Sagrada Família has never received government or Catholic Church funding for its construction. From the very beginning it has been paid for entirely through private donations and, since tourism took off in the late 20th century, ticket sales — the basilica now draws close to five million visitors a year, each paying roughly €20–40 for admission.
That funding model is a large part of why the project has taken so long. Without state backing, construction slowed to a near-total halt during the Spanish Civil War in the 1930s, when the project's own workshop and many of Gaudí's original models were destroyed, and dropped sharply again during the COVID-19 pandemic, when closures cost the site tens of millions of euros in lost ticket revenue. A nonprofit foundation, the Junta Constructora del Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Família, manages the roughly €400 million, multi-decade construction budget and oversees the ongoing work, tower by tower.
With this guided private tour, your group gets a genuinely in-depth 2–3 hours inside the basilica — enough time to take in details a rushed visit misses, from the carved stonework of the Nativity façade to the forest of structural columns rising through the nave.
