No — Sagrada Família sits inside the real Eixample district, Barcelona's 19th-century grid expansion designed by engineer Ildefons Cerdà after the city's medieval walls came down in 1854. The food stops on this tour are genuine neighborhood spots within that grid, not the souvenir stalls directly outside the basilica.

About This Tour
A private tour for your group only, combining a genuine food and drink tour with real Sagrada Família tickets. This is a private tour for your group only. Real Sagrada Família tickets are included alongside a genuine food and drink tour.
Sagrada Família doesn't actually sit inside Barcelona's old medieval core — it rises in the Eixample, the city's 19th-century extension district, and the story of how that neighborhood came to exist is its own real piece of Barcelona history. By the 1850s the old walled city was dangerously overcrowded, with cholera outbreaks driven by the crush of people packed inside its original medieval walls. The walls came down in 1854, and in 1859 engineer Ildefons Cerdà's radical plan for the expansion was ultimately adopted: a grid of near-identical city blocks with their corners deliberately cut at 45 degrees, designed for light, airflow, and traffic rather than the cramped alleys left behind. Construction on Sagrada Família itself began inside that new grid in 1882.
Because of that, the real food scene immediately around Sagrada Família looks nothing like the souvenir-stand strip right outside the basilica's gates. A few streets into the actual Eixample grid, the food and drink stops on this tour are genuine neighborhood spots — bodegas and bars serving the same local Catalan dishes residents actually eat, set inside the same uniform, chamfered-corner apartment blocks Cerdà's plan produced across the whole district. Pairing that with real, included tickets to Sagrada Família itself means the day covers both what Barcelona built in the 19th century and the single building that's come to define it.
