Because the ride is slower than a car and open to the street, it suits Asheville's compact downtown, where much of the best architecture is Art Deco. The S&W Building, a possible stop, was built in 1929 as a cafeteria designed by architect Douglas Ellington and is considered his most refined Art Deco work.
Asheville's downtown boom came in the 1920s. The Flatiron Building opened in 1926 and Grove Arcade in 1929, and the pedal bike's slow pace is a good way to see how those buildings cluster together.
The format is flexible, so your group's own pace and interests decide which neighborhoods and murals you linger on.
