The hike to Delicate Arch that anchors this private, customizable experience is a real workout, not a stroll: about 3 miles round trip with roughly 480 feet of elevation gain, typically taking 2 to 3 hours. The trail starts by rolling over open hills before climbing a long, exposed stretch of bare slickrock with no shade along the way — a genuine reason the private, pace-it-to-your-group format this tour offers matters, since the terrain and heat can catch unprepared hikers off guard even though the distance itself is moderate.
Near the trailhead sits Wolfe Ranch, the homestead site of rancher John Wesley Wolfe, and a short quarter-mile detour from the main trail leads to a rock-art panel left by the area's Ute inhabitants — petroglyphs depicting bighorn sheep and human figures carved into the sandstone. It's a real reminder that this landscape carried human history long before it carried hikers, and a genuinely worthwhile stop on the way in or out that a private guide can build into the day without rushing.
The arch itself, once you reach it, is the most photographed formation in the park: a free-standing span 52 feet tall with an opening 46 feet high and 32 feet wide, carved from Entrada Sandstone as the surrounding rock slowly eroded away over thousands of years. It appears on Utah's license plates and on a stamp issued for the state's 1996 centennial — reasons enough that reaching it on foot, rather than glimpsing it from a distant viewpoint, is the whole point of a dedicated hiking tour like this one.
