Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, for your group only.
A real, genuine UNESCO World Heritage windmill site.
No, they're two genuinely different sites. Kinderdijk, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997, is a group of 19 windmills south of Rotterdam built in 1738–1740 purely for polder water management. Zaanse Schans, near Zaandam, is a separate historic mill village closer to Amsterdam, built around industrial milling rather than drainage — Voyzo runs it as part of a different tour.

About This Tour
A private tour for your group only, real stops at the genuine UNESCO Kinderdijk windmills, Delft, and The Hague. This is a private tour for your group only. Real stops include the genuine UNESCO World Heritage Kinderdijk windmill site, Delft, and The Hague.
Kinderdijk's windmills are a genuinely different site from the better-known cluster at Zaanse Schans closer to Amsterdam, both in age and in purpose. The 19 windmills at Kinderdijk, officially recognized by UNESCO in 1997 as the 'Mill Network at Kinderdijk-Elshout,' were built in 1738 and 1740 in the Alblasserwaard polder in South Holland, purely to manage water — pumping it in careful stages from the low-lying polder up into an intermediate reservoir, then out into the river once the river level dropped low enough to accept it. It remains the largest concentration of historic windmills anywhere in the Netherlands, and the engineering logic behind it is as much the point as the windmills themselves.
That real water-management role is what makes Kinderdijk distinct from a working mill village built around milling grain or sawing timber — this was flood-control infrastructure on a national scale, built at a time when keeping a reclaimed polder dry was a matter of real survival for the communities living below sea level around it.
Pairing Kinderdijk with Delft and The Hague on the same day links three genuinely different pieces of Dutch history in one loop — 18th-century hydraulic engineering, Delft's own 17th-century Vermeer and Delftware legacy, and The Hague's modern role as the country's seat of government and home to the International Court of Justice.
