Adapted from a small-group experience — Voyzo runs this exclusively as a private tour for your group only. This is a peaceful, family-friendly introduction to Algonquin Park, blending canoeing with a guided search for wildlife.
Algonquin Provincial Park, established in 1893, holds roughly 2,500 lakes. Canoeing is the traditional way to see it, and a guided day gives beginners the confidence to try without a backcountry permit or route planning.
Moose are common in the park and are often seen feeding in shallow water, especially in the early morning and evening. Quiet paddling and a guide who knows where animals tend to appear improve the odds, though sightings are never guaranteed.
The park's canoe heritage runs deep: painter Tom Thomson fished and painted here from 1912 until his death on Canoe Lake in 1917, and the area's still, tea-coloured water is part of the look of his work.
