The Private Royal Ontario Museum Tour is a guided visit of 2 hours to the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto, with a private guide for your group only who prioritizes the galleries that matter most to your group. It meets near the museum, we arrange your transport there and back, and museum admission is included. It costs US$1,499 in total for 1 to 4 guests, in US dollars with no added taxes.

Overview

Highlights

  • The Royal Ontario Museum

At 100 Queen's Park; the ROM says it opened in 1914 and holds 18 million objects across 40 gallery and exhibition spaces (checked 29 October 2026).

  • Gordo, the Barosaurus skeleton

The Age of Dinosaurs gallery on Level 2 is built around Gordo. The ROM gives its length as 27 metres and calls it the largest real fossil dinosaur skeleton mounted in Canada.

  • The Bat Cave

A realistic portrayal of St. Clair Cave in Jamaica on Level 2, with more than 20 bat specimens and over 800 models. The ROM describes it as dark, with strobe lighting and noises.

  • Earth's Treasures

The Teck Suite of galleries for minerals, gems and gold, and the ROM's meteorite collection, as a 2008 ROM release describes them.

  • World cultures galleries

Galleries such as China, Egypt and Nubia, Greece and Rome or the Samuel European Galleries, depending on your group; the Middle East and South Asian galleries are closed at the time of checking.

At a glance
  • The Private Royal Ontario Museum Tour costs US$1,499 in total for 1 to 4 guests and rises to US$3,999 in total for 35 to 56 guests.
  • The price is one total for the whole group in US dollars with no added taxes, and a booking is a request until Voyzo confirms it by email.
  • The tour is a private guided visit of 2 hours to the Royal Ontario Museum at 100 Queen's Park in Toronto, for your group only, and museum admission is included in the price.
  • The guide prioritizes the galleries that matter most to your group, and the museum says it holds 18 million artworks, cultural objects and natural history specimens across 40 gallery and exhibition spaces, so a 2-hour visit covers a few galleries (the Royal Ontario Museum, checked 29 October 2026).
  • The tour meets near the Royal Ontario Museum and Voyzo arranges your transport there and back; the exact meeting point and start time are confirmed by email.
  • The museum's Bloor Street entrance to the Michael Lee-Chin Crystal is temporarily closed for the OpenROM construction, so visitors use the Weston Entrance on Queen's Park, and several galleries are closed (the Royal Ontario Museum, checked 29 October 2026).
  • The museum's October 2026 hours table showed it open from 10:00 to 17:30 and closed on Mondays 5, 19 and 26 October, so Voyzo confirms a start time that fits the museum's hours on your date.
  • You can cancel up to 24 hours before your tour date, a booking needs at least 24 hours' notice, and the cancellation terms that apply are provided with your booking confirmation (section 7 of our Terms and Conditions).

Who it suits

  • Families with children

Gordo and the Bat Cave are both on Level 2; the Bat Cave is dark, and the ROM warns of low ceilings. Tell us the children's ages.

  • Dinosaur and natural history fans

The Age of Dinosaurs gallery is built around Gordo, a 27-metre Barosaurus skeleton, and Earth's Treasures covers minerals and gems.

  • Visitors who want a guide to choose the galleries

The museum has 40 gallery and exhibition spaces; your guide prioritizes the ones that matter most to your group in 2 hours.

  • Couples and small groups

1 to 4 guests share one total of US$1,499, about US$375 each for four, with museum admission included.

  • Larger groups

The calendar prices groups of 5 to 56 guests, from US$1,799 to US$3,999; tell us your group size and we confirm how the visit is arranged.

  • A winter or rainy day

The visit is indoors, so rain or snow does not change which galleries you see. Dates in winter depend on the museum's hours.

  • Not the right fit if

You came for a gallery that is closed, such as the South Asian or Middle East galleries, or you need wheelchair-accessible transport (this page does not confirm it; ask first).

Private Royal Ontario Museum Tour: sample visit

This is a sample visit, not a fixed schedule. Your guide prioritizes the galleries that matter most to your group, the museum's opening hours and gallery closures set what is possible on your date, and no gallery has a time set on this page.

  1. Start

Meet near the Royal Ontario Museum

The tour meets near the Royal Ontario Museum at 100 Queen's Park, and we arrange your transport there and back. We confirm your exact meeting point and start time by email; the start has to fit the museum's opening hours, which were 10:00 to 17:30 in the ROM's October 2026 table.

  2. Arrival

    Into the museum

The ROM asks visitors to use the Weston Entrance on Queen's Park, because the Bloor Street entrance to the Michael Lee-Chin Crystal is temporarily closed for the OpenROM construction (checked 29 October 2026). Museum admission is included in the price.

  3. Visit

    Royal Ontario Museum

Galleries chosen with your private guide, who prioritizes what matters most to your group. The ROM has 40 gallery and exhibition spaces, so 2 hours covers a few of them: options include Gordo the Barosaurus and the Bat Cave on Level 2, Earth's Treasures and the world cultures galleries. Some galleries are closed for works, so the route follows what is open on your date.

  4. Finish

    The tour ends

The tour lasts 2 hours. If you want longer, ask us before you book and we confirm whether it is possible and the total; the museum's closing time, 17:30 in the October table, also limits the day.

  5. After

    Transport back

We arrange your transport back and confirm the details by email when we confirm your booking.

Optional stops
  • Gordo and the Age of Dinosaurs (Level 2). The James and Louise Temerty Galleries of the Age of Dinosaurs are built around Gordo, a Barosaurus skeleton. The ROM gives its length as 27 metres and says renovations in autumn 2025 opened and expanded the gallery (checked 29 October 2026).
  • The Bat Cave (Level 2). The ROM describes an immersive experience that shows bats in a simulated natural habitat, a realistic portrayal of the St. Clair Cave in Jamaica, with more than 20 bat specimens and over 800 models, included with admission. It is dark, with strobe lighting and noises, and the ROM says no real bats fly around.
  • Earth's Treasures. The ROM's galleries page lists Earth's Treasures, the Teck Suite of galleries for minerals and gems. A 2008 ROM release says the suite includes the Vale Gallery of Minerals, the Gallery of Gems and Gold and the Canadian Mining Hall of Fame Gallery, and shows the ROM's meteorite collection in the Vale Gallery of Minerals; ask us what is on view.
  • World cultures galleries. The ROM's galleries page lists, among others, the China galleries (including Chinese Architecture and Chinese Temple Art), Korea, First Peoples Art and Culture, Africa, the Americas and Asia-Pacific, Egypt and Nubia, Greece, Rome, Byzantium and the Samuel European Galleries. The South Asian and Middle East galleries are temporarily closed (checked 29 October 2026).
Tickets, seasons & itinerary changes
  • Order and time: your guide prioritizes the galleries that matter most to your group within the 2 hours, and the route can change on the day for closures or the museum's own rules.
  • Opening hours: we confirm your start time against the museum's opening hours for your date; the page we read carried only an October 2026 table.
  • Closures: some galleries are closed for works (checked 29 October 2026), and partial closures may occur during the OpenROM construction.
  • Tickets: museum admission is included; this page does not state whether tickets for special exhibitions are covered, so ask us before you book.

Meeting point and transport for the Royal Ontario Museum tour

The tour meets near the Royal Ontario Museum, 100 Queen's Park in Toronto, and we arrange your transport there and back. We email your exact meeting point and start time when we confirm your booking. This page does not say where the transport starts or ends: tell us where your group will be and we confirm the arrangement by email.

For reference, the TTC says to take Line 1 or 2 to St George Station and head east on Bloor Street to reach the museum, and the ROM calls St. George the closest accessible subway station, a block west of the ROM on Bloor Street. The ROM asks visitors to use the Weston Entrance on Queen's Park, because the Bloor Street entrance to the Michael Lee-Chin Crystal is temporarily closed for the OpenROM construction (checked 29 October 2026).

Cancellation and changes

You can cancel up to 24 hours before your tour date, and a cancellation made less than 24 hours before your tour date is not refunded. Your booking confirmation carries the cancellation terms that apply; section 7 of our Terms and Conditions covers cancellations. A booking needs at least 24 hours' notice. To cancel or change your date, email info@voyzo.com before the 24-hour cutoff; we will try to reschedule, subject to availability. Section 10 of the Terms and Conditions describes how independent operators fit in.

How booking works
  1. Choose your group size, date and preferred start time. We need at least 24 hours' notice, and we confirm the exact start time.
  2. Send your request. The calendar's Book now button sends a request rather than a confirmed booking.
  3. Share your wishes. Put dietary needs, mobility needs, children's ages and the galleries you most want to see in the message box of the quote form on this page, or email info@voyzo.com.
  4. Receive your confirmation. Once we confirm availability by email, we send your exact time, meeting point and transport details ahead of the tour.
How the hours work

The price covers a private tour of 2 hours. The booking calendar shows one price per group size and has no length option. If you want a longer tour, tell us by email to info@voyzo.com or in the quote form on this page, and we confirm whether it is possible and the total in your booking confirmation. The museum's own opening hours also set a limit: its October 2026 table showed 10:00 to 17:30 (checked 29 October 2026).

Admission and tickets

Museum admission for your group is included in the price, and we confirm the ticket details in your booking confirmation. This page does not state whether tickets for special exhibitions are covered; ask us before you book if your group wants one. The ROM prices its own tickets by date (Plan Ahead Pricing), so this page quotes no ticket price. Its Free Main Floor programme (first-floor galleries, 25 September to 29 November 2026, advance tickets required) and its Third Tuesday Nights Free evenings (the third Tuesday night of each month, 4:00 pm to 8:30 pm, special exhibitions not included) are offers for individual ticket holders; this page does not say how they relate to the admission in the tour, so ask us if your date falls on one (checked 29 October 2026).

Opening hours, entrance and closures

The ROM's October 2026 hours table showed the museum open from 10:00 to 17:30 and closed on Mondays 5, 19 and 26 October, with Thanksgiving Monday, 12 October, open. The page carries no November, December or January hours and no holiday hours, so tell us your date and we confirm by email whether the visit can go ahead. The Bloor Street entrance to the Michael Lee-Chin Crystal is temporarily closed for the OpenROM construction, so visitors use the Weston Entrance on Queen's Park. The Sigmund Samuel Gallery of Canada is closed, the area of the Japan and Herman Herzog Levy galleries is under redevelopment, and the Sir Christopher Ondaatje South Asian Gallery and the Wirth Gallery of the Middle East are temporarily closed; partial closures may occur, with alternate routes marked (the ROM, checked 29 October 2026).

Accessibility

The ROM's accessibility page says the Weston Entrance on Queen's Park has a ramp and automatic doors, elevators serve every level, the closest accessible subway station is St. George, a block west of the ROM on Bloor Street, and Museum station has stair-only access. A limited number of free manual wheelchairs can be borrowed at coat check with photo ID. The ROM also notes construction noise in some areas, sloped floors and walls in the Crystal, and a quiet area in the northeast corner of the third-floor Africa, the Americas and Asia-Pacific gallery. This page does not say whether our transport is wheelchair accessible: tell us about any mobility needs before you book, and questions go to info@voyzo.com (the ROM, checked 29 October 2026).

Children

Tell us your children's ages in the quote form on this page or by email to info@voyzo.com; this page states no age rule for the tour. The ROM says there are low ceilings throughout the building and asks visitors to take care when carrying children. Gordo and the Bat Cave are both on Level 2; the Bat Cave is dark, includes strobe lighting and noises, and has no real bats flying around. Strollers are allowed, though the ROM may refuse oversized ones on busy days, and backpack-style child carriers and wagons are not allowed (the ROM, checked 29 October 2026).

What to bring, photography and food

The visit is indoors, so rain or snow does not change which galleries you see; dress for the weather on the way in and out. The ROM allows purses, baby bags, backpacks carried at your side, small collapsible umbrellas and water bottles, does not allow selfie sticks, tripods, monopods, full-size umbrellas or wagons, and staff may inspect bags. Flash photography and video are allowed in most permanent galleries for personal use with hand-held equipment, and special exhibitions may restrict photography. Meals and snacks are not part of the tour; the ROM lists Druxy's ROM Café on Level 1B and the ROM Coffee Bar on the main floor, but its pages give different opening days for them, so we state no hours. Tell us about dietary needs when you book, and ask the café directly about allergens (the ROM, checked 29 October 2026).

Who runs your tour

You book with Voyzo FZ-LLC, and Voyzo remains your point of contact for booking, pricing and support: info@voyzo.com.

Some private tours run on the vehicles and drivers of Voyzo's affiliated Canadian operating company; other tours, such as flights, boat rides and attraction visits, are run by independent operators, all professionally licensed and insured. We confirm the guide and the transport details for this tour by email when we confirm your booking.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Private Royal Ontario Museum Tour?

It is a private guided visit of 2 hours to the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto, for your group only. Your guide prioritizes the galleries that matter most to your group, and options include Gordo the Barosaurus, the Bat Cave and the world cultures galleries. The tour meets near the museum, we arrange your transport there and back, and museum admission is included. It costs US$1,499 in total for 1 to 4 guests.

How much does the private Royal Ontario Museum tour cost?

Prices are totals for the whole group in US dollars, with no added taxes, not per person: US$1,499 for 1 to 4 guests, US$1,799 for 5 to 6, US$1,999 for 7 to 10, US$2,499 for 11 to 14, US$2,999 for 15 to 28, US$3,499 for 29 to 34 and US$3,999 for 35 to 56 guests. Each price covers a private guided tour of 2 hours with museum admission. For 21 to 56 guests, choose “> 20” in the group-size list and type your group size.

What does the price include, and what is extra?

The price is one total for a private guided tour of 2 hours for your group. It covers your private guide and museum admission, and we confirm the meeting point and transport details by email. It does not cover gratuities, meals and snacks, tickets for special exhibitions unless we confirm them when you book, or time beyond the 2 hours.

Is museum admission included in the tour price?

Yes. Museum admission for your group is included in the price, and we confirm the ticket details in your booking confirmation. This page does not state whether tickets for special exhibitions are covered, so ask us before you book if your group wants one. The ROM prices its own tickets by date, which is why this page quotes no ticket price (the ROM, checked 29 October 2026).

How long is the tour, and how much of the museum will we see?

The tour lasts 2 hours. The ROM says it holds 18 million artworks, cultural objects and natural history specimens across 40 gallery and exhibition spaces (checked 29 October 2026), so 2 hours covers a few galleries, not the whole museum. Your guide prioritizes the galleries that matter most to your group, and some galleries are closed for works at the time of checking.

Where does the tour start, and how do we get to the ROM?

The tour meets near the Royal Ontario Museum at 100 Queen's Park, and we arrange your transport there and back. We email your exact meeting point and time when we confirm your booking; this page does not say where the transport starts, so tell us where your group will be. For reference, the TTC says to take Line 1 or 2 to St George Station and head east on Bloor Street, and the ROM asks visitors to use the Weston Entrance on Queen's Park.

What start time should I choose in the booking calendar?

Choose the time you prefer; it is a request, and we confirm the exact start time by email. The calendar lists hourly choices from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, but the ROM's October 2026 hours table showed the museum open from 10:00 to 17:30, so the start time we confirm has to fit the museum's hours on your date (checked 29 October 2026).

Is the Royal Ontario Museum open on Mondays?

In the ROM's October 2026 hours table the museum was open from 10:00 to 17:30 and closed on Monday 5, 19 and 26 October, but open on Thanksgiving Monday, 12 October. The page shows no November, December or January hours and no holiday hours (checked 29 October 2026), so tell us your date and we confirm by email whether the visit can go ahead.

Is this tour private, or shared with other visitors?

The tour is private: your guide and your group are for you alone, and no other travellers are added to your group. The museum itself stays open to other visitors, so you share the galleries with the public. Museum admission is included in the price, and each group size has its own total.

How many guests can join, and can we have more time?

The booking calendar sells groups of 1 to 56 guests, from US$1,499 for 1 to 4 guests to US$3,999 for 35 to 56 guests. This page does not describe how the visit is arranged for a large group, so tell us your group size and we confirm the arrangements. If you want more than 2 hours, ask us before you book and we confirm whether it is possible and the total.

Is the Royal Ontario Museum good for kids, and what is the Bat Cave like?

The ROM warns of low ceilings throughout the building and describes WonderWorks as a play-based learning space for young children. Gordo and the Bat Cave are both on Level 2. The ROM says the Bat Cave is dark, includes strobe lighting and noises, and has no real bats flying around, so tell us your children's ages when you book. Strollers are allowed, though oversized ones may be refused on busy days.

Where is Gordo the dinosaur, and how big is it?

Gordo is a Barosaurus skeleton in the James and Louise Temerty Galleries of the Age of Dinosaurs on Level 2. The ROM gives its length as 27 metres and calls it the largest real fossil dinosaur skeleton mounted in Canada and one of only three complete Barosaurus skeletons on display in the world (checked 29 October 2026). The ROM says it acquired the skeleton in 1962 in a trade arranged by former curator Dr. Gordon Edmund, hence the nickname.

Which ROM galleries are closed right now?

On 29 October 2026 the ROM listed the Sigmund Samuel Gallery of Canada as closed, the area of the Japan and Herman Herzog Levy galleries as under redevelopment, and the Sir Christopher Ondaatje South Asian Gallery and the Wirth Gallery of the Middle East as temporarily closed. It adds that partial closures may occur during its OpenROM works. Tell us which galleries matter most to your group; the list changes, so we confirm what is open on your date.

Is the Royal Ontario Museum wheelchair accessible?

The ROM's accessibility page says the Weston Entrance on Queen's Park has a ramp and automatic doors, elevators serve every level, and St. George is the closest accessible subway station, a block west of the ROM on Bloor Street. A limited number of free manual wheelchairs can be borrowed at coat check with photo ID. This page does not say whether our transport is wheelchair accessible, so tell us before you book.

Can we take photos, and what can we bring into the ROM?

The ROM says flash photography and video are allowed in most permanent galleries for personal use with hand-held equipment, that special exhibitions may restrict photography, and that selfie sticks, tripods and monopods are not allowed. It allows purses, baby bags, backpacks carried at your side and small collapsible umbrellas, and does not allow backpack-style child carriers, wagons or full-size umbrellas. Staff may inspect bags (checked 29 October 2026).

Do the ROM's free admission offers change the price of this tour?

No. The tour has one fixed total for each group size. The ROM's Free Main Floor programme (first-floor galleries, 25 September to 29 November 2026, advance tickets required) and its Third Tuesday Nights Free evenings, which exclude special exhibitions, are the museum's offers for individual ticket holders. This page does not say how they relate to the admission in the tour, so ask us if your date falls on one.

Does the tour run in winter or in the rain?

The visit is indoors, so rain or snow does not change which galleries you see. When we checked on 29 October 2026 the ROM's hours page showed only an October 2026 table, with no November, December or January hours and no holiday hours, and the way into the building is outdoors, so dress for the weather. Tell us your date and we confirm by email whether the visit can go ahead.

How does booking this tour work?

Choose your group size, date and preferred start time in the booking calendar, at least 24 hours before your tour. Your booking is a request until we confirm availability by email, as soon as possible after we receive it. We then email your exact time, meeting point and transport details before the tour. The calendar itself describes this product as on request. Prefer to ask first? Use the quote form on this page.

What is the cancellation policy?

Your booking confirmation carries the cancellation terms that apply, and section 7 of our Terms and Conditions covers cancellations. About the Private Royal Ontario Museum Tour

This tour is for groups who want a guide to help them choose how to spend 2 hours in the Royal Ontario Museum, where the choice of galleries matters more than the length of the visit.

What is open changes by date. The Bloor Street entrance to the Michael Lee-Chin Crystal is closed for the OpenROM construction, several galleries are closed or being redeveloped, and the page we read carried only the museum's October 2026 hours, so we confirm your date by email. The visit itself is indoors in any season (the Royal Ontario Museum, checked 29 October 2026).

The Royal Ontario Museum was formally created by the signing of the ROM Act in the Ontario Legislature on 16 April 1912, and it opened to the public in 1914. It says it holds 18 million artworks, cultural objects and natural history specimens, shown across 40 gallery and exhibition spaces, and it describes itself as Canada's largest and most comprehensive museum (the Royal Ontario Museum, checked 29 October 2026).

Gordo, the Barosaurus skeleton in the James and Louise Temerty Galleries of the Age of Dinosaurs on Level 2, was collected by the Carnegie Museum from what is now Dinosaur National Monument in Utah. The ROM says it acquired the skeleton in 1962 in a trade arranged by former curator Dr. Gordon Edmund, which is the origin of the nickname. The ROM gives Gordo's length as 27 metres, calls it the largest real fossil dinosaur skeleton mounted in Canada and one of only three complete Barosaurus skeletons on display in the world, and says renovations in autumn 2025 opened and expanded the gallery.

A 2-hour visit covers a few galleries, not the whole museum. The Age of Dinosaurs gallery and the Bat Cave are both on Level 2, so they can share a route, and the world cultures galleries your group chooses depend on what is open on your date: the museum lists the Sigmund Samuel Gallery of Canada as closed and the South Asian and Middle East galleries as temporarily closed, and partial closures may occur during its OpenROM works (checked 29 October 2026).
