Cancellation and changes
You can cancel up to 24 hours before your tour date, and a cancellation made less than 24 hours before your tour date is not refunded. Your booking confirmation carries the cancellation terms that apply; section 7 of our Terms and Conditions covers cancellations. A booking needs at least 24 hours' notice. To cancel or change your date, email info@voyzo.com before the 24-hour cutoff; we will try to reschedule, subject to availability. Section 10 of the Terms and Conditions describes how independent operators fit in.
How booking works
- Choose your group size, date and start time. We need at least 24 hours' notice.
- Send your request. The calendar's Book now button sends a request rather than a confirmed booking.
- Share your wishes. Put dietary needs, mobility needs, children's ages and any time you must finish by in the message box of the quote form on this page, or email info@voyzo.com.
- Receive your confirmation. Once we confirm availability by email, we send your exact time and meeting point ahead of the tour.
How the hours work
The price covers a private walking tour of 2 to 3 hours. The booking calendar shows one price per group size and has no length option, and the 3-hour option that adds the Royal Ontario Museum is arranged by email. Time beyond the tour is charged additionally, and we confirm the rate by email.
Who runs your tour
You book with Voyzo FZ-LLC, and Voyzo remains your point of contact for booking, pricing and support: info@voyzo.com.
Some private tours run on the vehicles and drivers of Voyzo's affiliated Canadian operating company; other tours, such as flights, boat rides and attraction visits, are run by independent operators, all professionally licensed and insured. For this walking tour we confirm by email which operator runs it and who leads the walk.
Accessibility
Philosopher's Walk is described as a winding, hilly path (The Canadian Encyclopedia), and the Soldiers' Tower interior is not accessible to persons with certain disabilities; its Memorial Room is reached by a stairwell with a stairlift (University of Toronto Alumni). The City of Toronto says all TTC subway trains are accessible and more than half of subway stations are wheelchair and scooter friendly (checked 29 October 2026). Tell us about any mobility needs before you book, and we confirm what can be arranged for your group.
Children
This page has no age limit to state. Include your children's ages in the booking request or in the message box of the quote form, and we reply by email with anything that matters for them.
Buildings and what is open
This page promises the outsides of the buildings. The Soldiers' Tower exterior is open to the public year-round, but we have not read any University page saying that the interiors of Convocation Hall or University College are open to visitors, so we confirm by email what can be entered on your date.
Getting to campus
We email the exact meeting point, so we can tell you the best station for it. For the Royal Ontario Museum, the TTC says to take Line 1 or 2 to St George Station and walk east on Bloor Street. A TTC adult fare is CAD 3.30 with PRESTO or a tapped debit or credit card and CAD 3.35 in cash (TTC, checked 29 October 2026).
What to bring and the weather
The route is outdoors. Environment and Climate Change Canada's 1991 to 2020 normals for Toronto give a daily maximum of 2.6 C in December, minus 0.3 C in January and 0.6 C in February, and Toronto Pearson averages 24.1, 31.5 and 27.7 cm of snow in those three months. Wind chill is below minus 20 on about 21 days a year at Pearson (checked 29 October 2026). Dress for the weather and wear shoes you can walk in for 2 to 3 hours. If conditions change the plan, we tell you by email.
Tickets and extras
The price covers the private walk only. Admission to any attraction is not included, and that includes the Royal Ontario Museum in the 3-hour option unless we confirm otherwise by email. The museum sells Plan Ahead tickets that vary by date, so we do not quote a museum price here.
Photography
We have not read the University of Toronto's photography or filming rules, so this page states none. Tell us if you plan to film or bring professional equipment, and we confirm by email whether any rule applies.
Food and drink
The stops named for this tour include no meal, and meals and snacks are not included. Tell us about dietary needs when you book.
Winter and closures
We have not read the University's dates for the winter break, so we confirm by email what is open on your date. Start times for winter dates are also confirmed by email, because the calendar lists hourly options from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM and daylight is short in December. See the "What's open when" table in the sample itinerary for the Tower and the museum.

About the Private University of Toronto Walking Tour
This walk is for groups who want the St. George campus seen on foot, building by building. It takes 2 to 3 hours on foot for your group only, and a 3-hour option adds the Royal Ontario Museum, which sits just off campus. The stops are named in the sample itinerary; we confirm their order, the exact meeting point and which quad is meant by email.
Seasons shape the plan. The route is outdoors, the Soldiers' Tower carillon plays on an irregular schedule, and the museum sets its own hours, so the dated table above lists what we checked on 29 October 2026. Tell us your date and group size in the calendar or the quote form and we reply by email.
The St. George campus is the University of Toronto's historic downtown campus, which the university says was founded in 1827 before Canada was even a country. The University of Toronto Archives records that John Strachan obtained a royal charter for King's College, controlled by the Church of England, on 15 March 1827. The college did not open until 1843. On 31 December 1849 King's College ceased to exist and was replaced the next day by the non-denominational University of Toronto.
A fire at University College began shortly before 7 p.m. on 14 February 1890, when two servants dropped a tray of lit kerosene lamps on a staircase. It engulfed the entire eastern half of the building, including the library and its 33,000 volumes, and University College was restored by January 1892. The fire also destroyed the earlier Convocation Hall, in the college's northeast wing. The University of Toronto Alumni Association launched a campaign for a new hall, donors gave about 50,000 dollars over two years and the Ontario government matched it. Frank Darling of Darling & Pearson designed the present hall in the beaux-arts style, and it officially opened in June 1907 with room for about 1,700 people (University of Toronto Magazine).
Soldiers' Tower stands 43.5 metres (143 feet) tall at the western end of Hart House. Built in 1923 to 1924 with money raised by the University of Toronto Alumni Association, it is a memorial to the 628 members of the University who died on active service in 1914 to 1918 and the 557 lost in 1939 to 1945. The First World War names are carved on the memorial screen and the Second World War names on the two walls of the archway. Its carillon has 51 bells; the first 23 were dedicated on 6 October 1927. Philosopher's Walk, the winding, hilly path on the route, was once the ravine of Taddle Creek; contracts to bury the rest of the creek were issued in 1884 (The Canadian Encyclopedia).
