This is the daytime counterpart of the heritage evenings: an early start, a camel ride to a Bedouin-style village, a falcon up close and a breakfast built around Emirati dishes. It suits visitors who want the cultural side of a desert trip without a late night, and it returns you to Dubai between 10:30 AM and 12:00 PM.
At the village you see Bedouin tents, cooking stations and farm animals, and the breakfast is explained as well as eaten. The operator lists balaleet, which is sweet and savoury noodles with eggs flavoured with cardamom and saffron, chami cheese served with dates, ragag bread with honey, and luqaimat, the Arabic-style doughnuts with date syrup and sesame seeds. Drinks include Arabic coffee, tea and camel milk. Conservation Guides give a talk on the UAE's heritage, and young locals perform a traditional dance.
The nature drive takes place in the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve, which covers about 225 square kilometres, roughly 5% of Dubai's land area, and is home to Arabian oryx and gazelles. Falconry is far older than the reserve: Bedouin communities across the Arabian Peninsula practised it for centuries as a way of hunting, and UNESCO inscribed falconry on its Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2010, with the United Arab Emirates among the countries that submitted it.
The experience runs only from 1 November to 30 April. The operator states that a portion of the safari fee is contributed towards local conservation in Dubai.
